WHAT:
Children from ages 2 years old through middle school will have their art on display, highlighting their work in various mediums at The Renaissance International School’s (TRIS) 11th Annual Children’s Art Show.

The Renaissance International School is a Montessori school in Oakland, CA with music, art and language immersion.  

The art that TRIS students create in our art studio is a beautiful display of their artistic accomplishments as well as the manifestation of the Montessori philosophy. The school believes in every child's ability and in fostering individual intelligence and creativity.

June 9-June 22, 2013

Our online parents’ poll opened in March and ran through April, drawing voters from across our two-county coverage area. The result of that mondo ballot undertaking follows, producing a whopping 121(!) winners in 22 categories, based on this spring’s balloting

Music and Art Flourish at The Renaissance School, a Montessori School in Oakland, California

OAKLAND, Calif., April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The artistic accomplishments of The Renaissance School (TRS) students will be showcased at several upcoming spring events. The school is an international private Montessori school in Oakland, California with a strong music, arts and language immersion component.

Students are ages 2 years old through eighth grade. Their artwork will be on display for the community at The Renaissance School's 10th Annual Children's Art Show from June 10 through 23, 2012 at 54 Washington Street in Jack London Square in Oakland. The space has been donated by Jack London Square Ventures, LLC.

"The Renaissance School has had a long-standing relationship with Jack London Square and the city of Oakland," says Maina Howard, director of Community Development at TRS. "We appreciate their support."

The students' sculptures, textiles, paintings, photographs and more will be on display in a professional gallery setting with art from all age groups intermingled.

The Renaissance School's art curriculum allows children to explore, create and follow through on their artistic visions, develop skills and become comfortable in the art studio. The TRS art faculty is made up of professional, working artists.

Music Performances
The music curriculum at TRS is based upon the Kodaly Method of teaching and addresses the musical needs of children beginning in early childhood. Children participate in a choral ensemble, introduction to performance etiquette, instrumental lessons (piano, the recorder, oboe, violin and classical guitar) and music theory, appreciation and history.

Upcoming TRS performances open to the public:

  • Cantautori (TRS advanced vocal group) at Kodaly Children's Choral Festival, Holy Names University, Oakland, on Saturday, May 5. Vocal performances begin at 4:45 pm.
  • Instrumental Recitals. Primary students will perform on June 12 at 4 pm. Elementary and middle school students will perform on June 14 at 4 pm.

The Renaissance School, a Montessori School in Oakland, Announces Openings for Three and Four Year Olds

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Renaissance School, www.therenaissanceschool.org, a San Francisco Bay Area Montessori school for children from two years old through middle school, is currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 school year for three and four year old children in its primary program.

Students in the primary program are from ages approximately 2.9 years through 6 years and engage in the school's curriculum that has a strong music, arts and language immersion component. Students at The Renaissance School are taught in English, French and Spanish. In the primary years, the language program begins with children learning either French or Spanish.

"We pride ourselves on educating the whole child in an international environment of learning and culture that engages and inspires students to become life-long learners who are curious, creative and imaginative," says Leslie Hites, the school's founder and head of school.
