Andréa D. Guerra is a visual artist, painter and photographer. She is a graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute. She has been an art specialist with Cosmo Kids Summer Camp and taught at SFJCC Helen Diller Preschool and Sha’ar Zahar.
Alison Whismore has been an actress, director & teaching artist for many years. Prior to moving to California in 2010, she was on the road for 22 years co-designing and leading interactive theatre workshops both in English and French. She has led professional development seminars and workshops for adults, teachers and youth counselors. Since moving to Northern California, she has taught with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival residencies and camps, California Shakespeare Theatre Summer Conservatories, One Source Talent in Emeryville, B Street Theatre Playwriting workshops and After- School programs, Sacramento Parks & Recreation summer camps, Berkeley Playhouse after-school programs and camps, Francophone Charter School of Oakland, and with the UC Davis Arts Bridge Program. She designed and co-led B Street Theatre’s first Docent Training workshop at Crocker Art Museum in 2014 and has helped pioneer playwriting workshops as part of ELD programs in public schools
Eliza Bonneaud is a passionate trilingual teacher with experience living and working in France, California, Mexico and Japan. She holds a French Bachelor degree in Applied Foreign Languages (Spanish and English) from Université Paris Nanterre and is certified to teach both French and English as foreign languages. Her experience includes work within elementary schools, at the Alliance Française, and volunteering with organizations in the US and abroad. In her free-time, Eliza enjoys hiking and backpacking, practicing yoga and cooking. She joined TRIS in 2018.
Fanny Marchand is an AMI trained Montessori Guide. She had done her elementary training in Bergamo, Italy. Fanny comes from a microscopic village in the beautiful region of Burgundy, France. Before coming to education she studied
law for 5 years and holds a Master Degree in Litigation and European Law from the University of Paris Panthéon-Assas. Before coming to TRIS, Fanny worked in different schools supporting at risk youth. Outside school, Fanny love cycling, baking, doing yoga and reading books on the mysteries of our beautiful Planet!
Hella Tsaconas grew up in the East Bay. She earned a BA from the University of Southern California in Gender Studies and a MA from the Department of Performance Studies at New York University based on her research on elite women's boxing. From 2014 to 2017, Hella taught undergraduate courses spanning feminism, anti-racism, and critical theory at NYU. She has also worked in academic editing and publishing. She enjoys biking Oakland with her family and she is a lifelong ballet dancer. Hella is delighted to bring her passion for teaching and learning to the TRIS community since the fall of 2018.
Isabel Bustillos, originally from Mexico, holds a B.A. in International Relations from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a M.A. in Environment, Development and Policy from Sussex University. She comes to us after having worked for ten years at Ashoka’s Youth Venture, a global program that promotes youth leadership and social entrepreneurship. She has mentored hundreds of students around the world to develop their social ventures. In addition she has dedicated much of her life to working on Environmental issues in Mexico and here in the United States.
Kati Gyulassy, a children’s book author and illustrator, grew up in Oakland, New York, and Europe. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco. She has also studied astrophysics at Columbia University. She is the creator of the Winnie & Waldorf's books. In her free time she enjoys landscape painting, gardening, and bird watching.
László Hites has been working with wood for decades. He has immense experience creating musical instruments,
furniture, chess sets and many other things. He has been teaching carpentry to his own grandchildren for years now. He is returning this summer to share his expertise with students at our school.
Mary Juarez comes to TRIS this summer with extensive experience working with children as an instructor of English as a Second Language in Mexico City. She was TESL teaching certified by Cambridge University, UK, and taught English for 23 years. Mary discovered Montessori in one of the schools where she worked as an English instructor, and trained as an elementary Montessori guide at the Association Montessori International Center in Mexico City. She obtained her elementary Montessori certificate in 2014. Mary loves nature and animals. She has eight pets. She actively promotes the care of the environment as well as the care and respect for animals. This is Mary’s fourth summer at TRIS.
Nathalie Hites has a Bachelor’s of Science, with an emphasis in Zoology, and a Master’s of Science from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. She returned to the Bay Area in the fall of 2005, after 10 years abroad, and joined the TRIS Elementary team in the spring of 2006. In 2009, Nathalie completed her AMI Elementary Montessori Training in Minnesota and opened an Upper Elementary classroom at TRIS. Then, in 2013, she completed the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies in Ohio, and opened the Junior High at TRIS. She is currently teaching in the Junior High and working as Program Coordinator for the Elementary and Junior High. Nathalie enjoys any activity which takes her into nature and spending time with her four children, all of whom attend TRIS.
Ramiro Ruiz was born in Colombia. He received a B. A. in Philosophy and Literature from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. He is also a specialist in Educational Planning and Personalized Education. He has taught from elementary to university levels. He has also worked as a school superintendent and assistant principal.
