Hungarian Pianist Jeno Jandó
To Perform at Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland

 

World-renowned Hungarian pianist Jeno Jandó will make his much-anticipated return to the Bay Area to present a recital at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the newly-renovated Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland, at 1728 San Pablo Avenue.

The program will include: Chopin, Shumann, and Liszt. The recital is presented by the Corvinus Hungarian Cultural Group and The Renaissance School.

Jeno Jandó was born in 1952 in Pécs, South Hungary, where he began his piano studies at the age of seven. His most influential teacher was Pál Kadossa at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest.

Jeno Jandó’s recordings include works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Bartok, Brahms, Dohnányi, Gershwin, Grieg, Kodály, Liszt, Schubert, Schumann, Rachmaninov, and Tsajkovskij. His recording of Bartók’s Violin Sonatas received a Grammy nomination for Best Chamber Music Recording of 1995. In 1995 he also received a platinum disc to mark worldwide sales in excess of 1.5 million for his recordings on the Naxos label. Within the last four years, Mr. Jandó has received the Bartók-Pásztory Award, the Kossuth Award, and the International Liszt Society Award.

The Corvinus Hungarian Cultural Group was established ten years ago with

    Quietly Experience the Montessori class environment through a self-guided walk through the classrooms. Placards explain the purpose and usage of many of the Montessori materials that your child might experience during his or her day.
