Pre-primary

Kathryn Coates Kim has over 18 years of experience working with young children and completed her AMI Assistants to Infancy training at The Montessori Institute of Denver, Colorado.  Kate has also trained to be a doula through DONA.  In an earlier life, she studied Geology at San Francisco State University.  Kate enjoys camping, reading, making things with her hands, and exploring with her family.  She has three children who attend TRS.  This is her 8th year with the school.

Erika Zavala has worked with 12 month to 12 year-old children for eight years in an informal capacity, and in a Christian educational setting. She is currently working towards a degree in social work. This is Erika's 2nd year at TRS.

Olga Morataya immigrated to the United States from Guatemala in 1995. Since then she has acquired the Child Development Assistant Permit and the Child Development Assistant Teacher permit and has run her own in-home daycare program. Olga has also taught children’s Christian education for over 14 years in Guatemala and in Oakland. This is her 5th year at TRS.

Tina Chang is an AMI Montessori guide from Taiwan certified for Pre-primary (zero – three year olds) and Primary (three to six year olds) teaching. Tina also has a B.S. from Boston University in Human Physiology and Physical Science. She completed her Master of Education in Montessori from Saint Mary’s College in California.  This is Tina’s 10th year at TRS.
